Good question. It seems to me that the answer would be right at your fingertips...

No difference other than what Numark may have cut back or replaced for reasons of lack of parts, or upgraded chips / components.

I have owned one 4k in white, 3 4k Plus (In blue with 80gb and 272mb ram) models (and a store demo Plus for 3 weeks), and now own a 4000BL (non plus version from summer 2004 in blue).

They all function and sound 'pretty' much the same. build quality is the same. I did notice slight differences in sound though, in that newer 'Plus' models are starting to sound like the 1000/2500 engine (although using 24/96 ad-da's instead of 16 bit ones). I had UK support agree with me on the sound differences. Not a make or break deal, but the sound differences are very subtle.

Any new 4000's available are refurb units.

Thank you Groove, I wanted to know from someone that had some experience with the two models (hint: dabmeister)

I had the regular 4000. The only difference between the two is the the PLUS model has the IB-4D board preinstalled. This was done to get rid of the surplus of option boards after the 4000 was tagged for extinction.
