IMHO: what good is an MV when the sequencer is booty?
Not a hater, I know that piece got a ton of good features, but Roland sequencers are doodoo.

Give me a 2000 clasic that barely does anything, but has the sequencer and swing I prefer. Or anything else, anything but that 'jump in to the click' style 'shuffle how we want you to' roland steeze.

Don't get me wrong, I love Roland, but Akai has always been killen em on the sequences.

Roland actually set the standard for standalone sequencers with the MC-500 and Akai answered back with the ASQ-10 and was promptly destroyed by the MC-500 MKII. That was the end of Akai's sequencer aspirations. The ASQ-10 sequencer has been implanted ( in one form or another) in the MPC right to the 3000. Not because it's good , but because it was cheaper to tweak old software than to develop new software that can't be sold outside of the MPC box.

The sequencer in the 4000 is way ahead of the old ASQ sequencer despite a familiar approach.

4000 is a MV killa. it's not about quantity of features you get but about quality. from what I read there is couple of things that the MV8800 got that 4000 lacks. future os support and it can calculate audio peaks and auto chop dead on spot.

I've only had my 4k for brief moment and unfortunately I gotta part with it cuz mainly I been using 2500, battery and Live. But unless something more interesting comes out from akai by next summer NAMM. I'm picking up another 4000!

Hence the reason why some of the MV owners still got MPCs.
