Chop Shop Question

Wutup everybody. I have a question about Chop Shop. If I have a sample and I auto chop it into 8 different quadrants and assign it as a new program, how come i lose some of the sound quality? I don't know if this is standard and I just didnt realize it until yesterday, but I am definitly starting to notice a minor loss of sound quality from the individual chops after they are chopped from the original sample. Any ideas. Cheers

you're not losing quality, you're losing a channel since the akai os for some reason converts all chopped samples to MONO

Ye that's what I pretty much figured. Is there any way to avoid this. Currently I am running the basic Akai OS which came with my machine. Should I download the other one? Will it make a difference?

Great, next time I use a mono loop, which is never, I will be sure to get into that.

Nah, I was considering 2500. But the JJ solves that problem?

So the new os clears up this issue? Do i have to pay for it? or is it just a download?

Let's say you buy the newest JJ, then you want to upgrade when they drop another. You pay another fee, or you recieve upgrades with same password? Not to hijack the post, my bad, couldn't resist...

With JJOS you pay a one-time fee of $30 and every update is free. I bought JJOS last year and there have been about 25 updates, changes and additions since!
It's all good.... very good.

e.g. Bit convert - 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 bit resample, Sample rate convert to 11025, 22500, MIDI CC output with q-links and loads more.....

errrr.... yeah, anywayz.... it's a one-time-for-life payment and chop-shop works in stereo. You can also convert a stereo sample to mono from the left channel, from the right channel, by subtracting the middle from the sides (Vocal cut) and by adding both the left and right channels.

for jj os 4.93, you pay $30 bucks.

in march, you'll have the option to upgrade to the next product, os2. that's another $39. that one has only just been announced and will start giving these 2 machines the features of the mpc4000.

Haha. Yeah.. I've just seen that!! I don't understand why you said 4.93? The latest JJOS is 5.43.
Well the new JJOS version 2 out next year is very, very much worth paying that measly amount for IMO.
