Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello,

I have a problem i hope to sort out.

I bought a cardreader here in the UK from http://www.digitalera.co.uk/

I know it works with my friend's MPC2000XL so i bought one myself.

It has 3 jumper options (left, right, or to take the jumper off completely)

I tried all three jumper options and it just doesn't show up on my MPC when i go to the file screen.

I am running the most recent operating system and my friend is running an older one - so i've just tried downgrading my operating system and used it with the jumper settings i last set and it still didn't work.

Do you think it's worth me trying the other two jumper options?

To be honest i have a feeling it's not going to work :-(

Why would the same card reader work in one MPC and not in another if running the same operating system?

Thanks.

(i'm using a 1GB Kingston memory card formatted to FAT32 which should work shouldn't it?)

Hi mate, i haven't managed to get it working yet - had my MPC to bits last weekend and tried pretty much everything, all the jumper settings, and things like that but i am determined to give it one last try so i will keep you posted.

I' m still looking for a reader so I don't have much cardreader experiance yet.

But maybe you could try installing the reader in your computer and see if it works (and check the jumpersettings...)

Hi there, it works in my PC - it's getting it to work in the MPC that's the problem! Will have another fiddle with it this weekend but i'm running out of things to try. Will keep you posted.

Easy,

It works! Not sure if it is hotswappable though but at £25 you can't complain.

You have to be running OS 1.20 and put the jumper on the opposite pin that it arrives on (there's only two choices)

Good luck!

Fu*k, it's read only - would changing the jumper make it write?

i doubt it. the jumper probably justs sets to slave or master and it won't work at all as slave. although im not expert.

shame - was getting reader to order one!
