My boy has a blue MPC 1000 and I'm just wondering what would be good to get him for Christmas under $100? He already has everything else he needs for his studio (Mackie Monitors and Mixing board, computer, ACID etc.) so I'm looking for something MPC related to get him. I was thinking maybe that black faceplate replacement? Or maybe a carrying case or flight case for the MPC. Any thoughts?

At guitar Center the other day they had the GigBagz or whatever they are called on sale. Really nice cases.... There were a few really nice ones for under $100 on sale.

You can check on ebay for the 256 kingston memory upgrade and you would have enough money left to upgrade to jj os also

The pads would be cool if they were cheaper, and plus his are working fine still after a year (he probably doesn't use it as much as you guys do though.) I really think he hasn't taken advantage of what the Akai has to fully offer yet so maybe the JJ OS would be a bit premature for him, I'd have to find out what kind of memory upgrades he's gotten already if he has any, I don't know if I could straight up ask without him getting suspicious. He was about to trade in his 1000 when the new black ones came out, I guess that's how much he hates the blue color scheme (I don't mind it on my 2000xl though.) So I'm thinking on leaning towards the black casing. Maybe the gig bag...

On a side note, MPC Stuff told me that by early next year they'll be selling flight cases for MPCs through their site.

I think ur best bet is the black casing.
He'll be happy.
A piece of software isn't exactly an exciting bday present is it!

Damn, well the black case WAS looking like a good idea - I mean the man was about to sell his MPC just so he can buy the new 1000 in black. But I was over his studio this weekend messing with the MPC and I was like "too bad about these colors huh?" And he started saying some shit like "Oh no I like em now" or he got used to them. He said after he started collecting more kicks with crazy color schemes he was diggin the color scheme on his original MPC 1000.

ARRRRRGGGHHHHH!

jjos1 and jjos2 registration. nothing premature about it.
os1 - $30
os2 - $39

these will push him into getting more deep into his machine.

jjos1 will give him what the Akai os should have been. it will give him more complete and powerful sequencing power.

jjos2 will pick up where jjos1 left off, but will add significant sampling power and performance enhancement. MUCH more you can do with os2.

he'll build you a pedestal and put you high upon it.
