Hey. Does anyone use the pads for their entire beat producing. I'm without a keyboard for another 2 weeks and I'm looking for some tips. Thanks and happy holidays to all.

I use the pads. When using your MPC as a MIDI controller along with your internal samples, you'll have to place your internal sounds on different pads than the MIDI notes you're using or you'll trigger both when you're recording a MIDI track. I haven't found a way to get around this on my 60 w/ OS upgrade, but somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

You can't cause you only have one program. That's the one thing about the 60/3000.

So its best to sample all the sounds you want and avoid midi? Or just use it as a controller and do everything in the computer?(booo)

Nah you don't have to avoid midi but your limited on Programs

(mpc 3000) you can get around the problem like this:
e.g. you have an internal sample on pad B10 that you record on track 1. then on track 2 you wanna use the same pad (B10 = C3) for an external sound on e.g. a rack sampler. go to the MIDI 2 window and press LOCAL MODE: OFF. choose the sourse of the extranal sound, e.g. 1A, and play your sound. after you've recorded, switch DRUM to MIDI on the track. then you go back to MIDI 2 window and put local mode back on if you wanna **** with your internal sounds on the next track.

Wow. This is going to make my life a lot easier. For the record, it works on a 60 w/ OS 3.10. Many thanks for the tip PureP.

i think they actually changed this for the newer 3.50 version OS for the 3000, i think that i read somewhere you could access 8 pgms on the newer OS.... maybe im wrong about the newer OS, but for sure the older versions pre 3.50 are limited to working within 1 pgm at a time...
