im have my keyboard midi up with my 4k and for some reason everytime i search threw the keys for a sound when i go to the 4k and want to use note repeat it has a sound already on it and wont erase......if u dont quite understand...maybe someone knows how to simply delete a sound off of note repeat (the way it is now if i hit note repeat without hitting a pad it already iis repeating an instrument)

it is repeating the last sound from the last pad you touched, touch the pad of the sound you want to use...

As more and more of this type of stuff is being posted, it makes this site less and less interesting. I guess this is (for the newbs) the growing pains of being new to this stuff... As it is known, reading & understanding the manual helps to a LARGE degree.

YO u read the whole freakn manual? Stop this "read the manual" bullsht already, if this post doesnt concern u skip it, stop mashing the newbies, reading the whole manual b4 u use the MPC is bullsht and takes the whole f'n fun out of getting a MPC, the manual is used more as a reference, and u know and I know most people will use the search function in adobe for the .pdf version of the manual to "catch" a phrase that may be relevant to their problem. I've had an MPC since 97 and I still havent read the whole manual except for my first 2K and that didnt help sht and was just over whelming. I am no MPC expert but I learn about it more and more everyday just by being hands on. Readn an mpc manual and becoming an expert is like telling me u r a expert buddha grower cuz u read a freakn book, get REAL.

Its about time someone on this forum said that, if u don't want to help someone don't. telling people to rtm is just annoying.

And why does my dislike towards spoon feeding cause you to squirm slim? My point is...if you take the time to absorb the literature first, it makes it that much easier to comprehend and overcome any difficulties one might occur, especially if they're new at it. And from the limited info my man gave, he's probably in the sequence mode along with the fact that he does'nt have things setup properly in the first place.

On the other hand there is no hand holding on this forum or any forum for some simple stuff that is on the first few pages of the manual. Time and time again alot of the basics is in the manual. If anyone got a complex or difficult question yes others are here to help. But not reading the manual is BS. This isn`t directed at the questioner or starter of this here thread but the simple stuff and simple people wanting to be spoon feed the stuff right out the manual.

Plain and simple too SEARCH is an VALUABLE tool too. A hundred users asking the same questions month after month, week after week you can find the answer out very quickly from a previous post.

Reading the manual is your own investment and time to learn your 4k. And I disagree a 4k isn`t a 2xl as I came from that too without a manual and took the best piece of advice when I came the 4k forum which was to READ the Manual.

I`m going to leave it at that if you don`t want to read be my guest more power to you, but if no one answers the thread like you said. Just use your intuition instead of posting simple stuff.

Which is your controller+sound module and which is your sequencer the 4k or the keyboard?

Did you turn local off on the keyboard?

Did you set the 4 note repeat to latch or not?

How is your setup running as of now?

I highly doubt that manny wud not look at the manual at all and resort to posting something and having to wait possibly days for an answer. When in fact it CUD be rite in the manual. I'm not saying NOT to the read the Manual. Listen no body is gonna read the manual in full and then use the MPC, its all trial and error. Its a bit of both, and let me tell u one thing, some of the problems that I've encountered over the days even If I wud have memorized the whole mpc manual I still wudnt have found the solution. Some newbies may be lazy, but its no reason to not help them out. If u r not interested in helping them out, then thats ur choice. Is this site solely for identifying bugs or trading techniques? Are u gonna tell ur first child, read the manual and go to ur driving skool if u wanna learn how to drive? Or are u gonna take them to an empty parking lot and teach em the ropes b4. U think Large Professor told Havoc, "yo go read the maual" It's not a question like " I cant find the power button". Some of these topics are complex, and when I first got the 4K, I was overwhelmd. But eventually these newbies will learn in due time that the manual is a valuble reference. In the mean time there is no reason why u cant give a helping hand. Why dont we do us all a favour and get back to the TOPIC.

Bottom line is, nobody here is obligated to help you. Cuz nobody here is getting paid to do so. And simple questions like that come up on almost every day basis, that's why we got a search function.

It comes down to this, if you wanna know how to use your mpc either figure that sh!t out by trial and error or read the damn manual. If you dont then dont, and dont be acting like you deserve to be helped or something.

Read the manual frist then report back if something is unclear, rather than the other way around. Coming from 2500 I had no such problems getting down basic functions of the 4000

No offense to anybody, but this is why everybody is'nt on the same level of intelligence. It's obvious when someone screams HELP and expects that this is the way things are going to be here. From what I've seen, its not an occassional question here & there, it's the repetitious questions, and that's where the problem lies. To me, this site is meant to share ideas & awareness amongst it's members, not cater a special ed course for the disadvantaged. It (spoon feeding that is) just takes all the fun outta learning in the first place IMO. :?

Do us all a favor and hit up the Newbie bible or the getting Started thread it is there for a reason. Alot of answers awaited anybody there. The Choice is yours. And Large Professor didn`t tell Havoc shit, Havoc sat and observed what Extra P did, and Premo did, and others. Since we all are not sitting in the same room check out the previous posts to get an idea and yes there is no short cut around the 4k compared to the 2xl you gots ta read. Or sell yourself short.

Like Scott La Rock says "It`s Yours."
