Well even though I've been doing some posting, currently I've never used to a MPC. I don't think I'll be buying it first off, because I want my sampler to have as many effects as possible, and it just doesn't seem like the 1000 or even 2000(XL) cover those bases off the bat. So I'll first purchase a sp606, and once I have a synth & mixer, then get my mpc. But which would be the best choice? I'd like to be able to get the ability the play samples backwards (which I already have learned here the 1000 doesn't support), but the 606 can do that for it. But is the 1000 all I'm going to need if I already have a 606? Or will the 1000 be enough? Which has more Polyphany? The 1k or 2k?

I won't be buying the 2500, 3000 or 60, just because the 2500 costs too much for my budget, and the others are probably going to cost me a pretty penny. The 500 isn't likely since it seems the 606 will outperform it....

Comparisons and answers to the questions would be great...

Good question, I forgot....I read it....somewhere. Maybe I was mis-informed. Nevertheless, I still want the sp606 for it's effects....

Both are considered "phrase samplers". But the sp606 is only capable of 18,000 note capacity while the 1k is 100,000 note (that's less than 1/5th the capacity of the akai). Another thing I should point out is the maximum voices each unit has, 8 voices for the 606...32 voices for the 1k. And for efx's, go with using dx (direct x) or vst's, they sound better than what's inside the little box.

300,000 notes for the 1k, actually
