2x HD ide

How do I connect two HD's to the MPC4000? I bought it used and there is allready an internal 30GB. Ive read somewhere that you can connect a second IDE Hard disk (wich goes in pc's). The person that sold me the unit said there was a slot available at the front middle of the mpc, leftside of the cd-rom, but theres allready something in there and I cant get it out of there, so I cant tell you what it is..?

theres room inside the mp for 2 internal drives?

yes. I removed the cd rom. and connected the maxtor to those connections. dunno if it works Im still formatting the drive

Maxtor 80GB, are they supported??!

ya, thought maybe for a 2nd I missed something, didnt think about removing the cdrom, you could save yourself the trouble and get an external drive as well

Thats a possibility, but with the new OS comming wich supports streaming from and to HD, you need a fast drive! And USB 1.1 is kindy slow.. So I connected an external DVD-drive via USB and replaced the internal CD-rom with a IDE HD.

Though it seems I cannot format the Maxtor 80gb with FAT32... Only NTFS. Think I need to buy another drive.. Or maybe my Maxtor 40gb will format to FAT32, havent tried it yet.

Btw, the MPC4000 rocks!! Its just an MPC60 with extras!! Though I like the sound of the 60 more.. More punch!

Is the 'bit crush- function' for MPC4000? Or only for MPC1000? I cant find it..

Oh, I got one question to: If I insert a sample cd (wav, 16bit, 44100), the sound is pitched up after loading it into the memory.. How to fix this?

Bit crush is basically resample in the edit window, you can reduce the bits and rate there

As far as the pitched up samples make sure your listening at the default key I had the problem at first when some shit had some weird default keys, hit window in the main sample window over the sample screen will come up letting you know what the default key is

Good ideas thought, you got me thinking im prob going to switch some shit around, lemme know what hds you getting working specifically i need to find that compatible HD list

Its a Maxtor Diamond 40GB and an IBM 40GB, both at 7200rpm. The Maxtor is set to master (connected to the end connector of the cable, jumper to master), IBM is slave (connected to middle connector of cable, jumper to slave)

Both working very good!
