Help hooking up a key board to my 1000

i cant seem to figure out how to hook my key board to my 1000 ive heard other people use there keyboard hooked up to the mpc but the only thing i can figure out is to sample the sounds in and play them on the pads .. Isnt there a way to play the keyboard while recording over a track >?

Buy some midi cables. And search the forums for help with the configuration. Just remember with midi its out to in and in to out which ever devices you connect.
