Step Editing?(2000XL)

I need to find out how to use the STEP EDIT mode to fine tune my drums...problem is when I go to STEP EDIT no drums show up...How do I go about editing the drums in this mode?...tried looking in the manual (pg.64) with no luck, it doesn't tell you how to locate your drums.

The track you wanna edit should be on the main screen before you open the step edit window. You should see it as midi note information.

for fun i like to try to step edit a whole track, it ends up sounding all tecky

I have one question about that step edit. If i have record my drums with no quantize, is there any easier way to find those notes at step edit than check the hole sequence through? And i use xl..
In mpc1000 it was easy because step edit shows 4 notes at a time...

Go over the bars section top right and move the data wheel slowly. Every time you had recorded something you'll see it will play on the bar it was recorded.

Actually that was just what i mean when i said "check the hole sequence through?"
So there is no another way? That's ok but it was easier in mpc1000..

There is much easier way.
While in the STEP screen, press and hold LOCATE/GO TO and use < or > buttons. It will take you to every single event you recorded on a track. By the way >> and << buttons take you to the start and to the end of a track.
