mpc 1000 pad questions

i have been reading a lot about the mpc's 1000 new and old pads, but i dont know whats the difference, wich pads are better and why?

i bought my mpc 1000 last week, it came in a blue box and i think its the mpc1000bk model, what does that mean? whats the difference between 1000bk and 1000bk-n?
sorry for all the questions, but im really scared about having an mpc with pads that are of bad quality or something like that,
is it really important to change my mpc pads if i have the old? and why?

Dont even waste your money on the 1k they suck. Get the 2.5k

I have the blue mpc. It's the older version

The black was a re-release of the exact same mpc, just with a black case.

the black-n is with the pad "upgrade' installed.

I have had my blue one for almost a year. I don't really have any pad problems, but I do a lot of step editing and resampling and stuff to get different drum kicks at different attacks and veloceties, so I don't rely on the pads for pressure sensitivity a whole lot.

But if I ever need the new pads, they are there. (if my pads start dying, etc).

I have to respectfully disagree with Jackpot. The 2500 is basically the same machine as a 1k with new pads and JJOS. My .02

new pads are obviously better so try to get them if possible. the old ones are noticeably stiffer (as opposed to the looser feel of the new pads) and more prone to malfunction/damage if you're not careful.

the 2500 is cool but i can't stand the data wheel on it!

the basic differences between the two models are small and relatively unimportant depending on what you want out of an mpc.

Hmmm depends what you consider "BASIC" Size, Feel, pad size, tilt screen, q sliders, not feeling like a toy to name a few...unimportant?

shiyat just for those couple reasons alone I went with the 2500...

I'd personally call the differences pretty major actually...

Not to mention the 2500 just looks sexier on my desk...

I recently purchased a black box BK model from Sam Ash and it had the older pads. I took that one back a week later and exchanged it for guess what, a BK model that had the new pads.. I guess it is a toss up on the black box BK model.... For the record, I got the 1K because I have never owned or operated one and did not want to spend more than I did on something I may not keep pick up....
