Trying to find the note off on my MPC 2000

I have a sample in my MPC 2000, and when if I hit te pad twice itjust plays the sample twice overlapping eachother. I would like it to start over and and not overlap. Is the note off what I'm looking for, and why the hell can;t I find it? Just getting started with this machine so bear with me,

Go to the PROGRAM Screen and u will be good to go. Within dat screen u can then change it to NOTE OFF, MONO....

SHIFT + Program(its all done in that screen so play around wit it)
