Greetings, and thanks in advance for your time.
I need help I've used the ASR my whole life. I went to Africa and left the boards for like a year. It is the most depressing, yet most liberating thing to stop making beats. anyway, I'm back and I can't remember any midi channel settings or anything. I'm trying to incorporate the MPC and a mac digi002 protools set up. I have worked with an MP and with protools before, but I never owned either, and all my techie knowledge is gone anyway. I can't remember any settings (at least that's what I think the problem is- midi settings on ASR and MPC), and I can't get any sound in the MPC. (midi connection: midi out of the asr-10 goes to midi in 1 of the MPC 2000, and the midi in of the asr-10 goes to MPC midi out A. Midi out B of the MPC goes to the digi 002 midi in, and midi out of the digi 002 goes to midi in 2 of the MPC. audio: MPC 8 outs go into the digi 002 8 inputs, digi 002 main outs going to receiver)
I chop my samples and sounds in the ASR, and I want to sequence them in the MPC. I attempted to adjust the instrument and system settings on the ASR and the midi settings on the MPC (this really may be where I went wrong; I am unsure of all proper the settings; I tried many combinations. Do you have the info on ASR or MPC midi settings?? I've never felt so retarded, dude). I can hear the ASR sounds in my headphones when I hit the MPC pads, but only when I have the phones plugged into the ASR. When I have the phones plugged into the MPC, I can only hear the sequence clicks; I hear no sounds. Needless to say that there is nothing running into the Digi002 and therefore nothing coming out of my speakers (the MPC is not sending anything). I'd like to sequence in the MPC, track everything to the digi 002, and edit in Protools.
What can I do? Clearly the sounds are getting transferred in some way to the MPC pads; when I hit them, I hear the sounds in my headphones plugged into the ASR. But I can't do anything with them, and I can't hear them when I plug the phones into the MPC. Can you help?
Thanks,
lew
