recently got to paly around twith the mv8000(took me a while with playing)...
and all i can say is WOW, what a **** amazing machine. definately beats the shit out of ANY mpc i've useD(never used the 4000 but used every single other mpc, forat, sp1200, studio440)
**** amazing. I haven't fully gotten itno it, but i love this machine...
The timing I have to get to grips with, i'm not sure but its sounding off, its something to do with the quantize obviously, I'll work that out though.... I just need the manual(which ish idden in my boxes from moving), anyone have any tips b4 i get into that?
but some of the triggering patterns(is there a mute track page too?) is amazing. I wish u could do 2 patterns at once(unless i'm mistaken?). the itnerface is extremely smooth.
i haven't blasted it out of my monitors yet (my studio's still in a mess, just using headphones)...so i dont know how much it bumps, but it sounds warm.
I prefer it to any of hte modern MPCs i've used for sample quality. (not used the 4000 mind you), just al ot warmer of a sound. I think i find the samples i've been making 100x fold more useful than lets say samples i made from the mpc1000, adn this is without proccessing.
the sample editing is extremely fluid and quick. everyhting's just really quick the load/save times being slow? wtf, ? u born in 1990? how mayn **** drum machines load/save for ever?!?!? sp1200 anybody??mpc60 quickeR?
one thing, with the screen, sometimes there is motion blur(i have vga, but i havent set up my desk, so no vga yet), which can be hard to read.
it's defiantely different than the mpc line. but i'm finding the new additions really really great. The chop is great, it chops so quick. I can take one of my favorite tracks, get the kick drum real quick out of it change things up, its wonderful.
i haven't encountered the proccessor lag for htting drums, only on guitar center's model...
one thing i really love is how smoothly the mv8000 links up with my tech 12, grounding and everything. i make mad samples. and its not like many of the new drtum machines which seem to want you to use your comptuer for editing, i really thinkg i can do absolutely everything, and do it high quality, with this.
i must say though sometimes the sliders dont get recognized...does it have to go to the setting first?
but anyway...def. happy i made this move. i couldn't imagine the mpc4000 really ocmparing...especially for the $700 more it would of cost me...i still might upgrade to the mv8800, just because i love the machine so much, and it'll get tons of use that screen might be worth the $:-)
