mrpig, when tracking, there's a trick you could benefit from.
insert an extra bar in front of all your sequences, and add a CLICK pad in every program. make it d16 or something out of the way. assign it to 1.01.00.
allow this to play with each trackout.
realign these clicks in your DAW, then delete the extra bar.
boom, you have preserved your timing.
the workaround for the feature you want to see already exists in that form.
i use it when i track and it helps me preserve the groove i created inside the mpc.
Your dead right, this is what i do when tracking to nuendo- a good square wave so it's easy to trim visually in your DAW- i use a tone from a casio vl tone. Only thing is, it does slow things down quite a bit and it would be nominally quicker copying the renderings from the mpc to DAW via usb then trimming out the silences before the clicks in the DAW over and over again. It's awfull tedious and does break workflow.
Also, I have'nt come across a better ADSR for drums then BATTERY,and I suggest to JJ modeling the envelopes on those, they get sharp contours and musical response.
Finally, I think there are better digital filters out there than what we have now, (Sonalksis' freebee, for example), and i think it's worth finding the best one and incorporating that into our beloved mpc. I pass the talking stick on to you. By the way Nym, thanks for all your contributions to the forum, kits and all. GEEZA!
