Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Earlier today I was loading a sound and it just started making a crazy buzzing noise. I was hitting the pads and I heard the sounds faintly while the buzzing was going on, and none of the buttons would work. So I turned it off and rebooted it. When I put the start up disk in it said disk read error. So I turned it back off and waited a few minutes and started it up again. I put the startup disk in and everything has been fine ever since. Does it sound like my floppy drive is going bad? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

If it is the floppy drive is it easy to replace, and will any floppy drive work?

Thanks,

Nick

this really does sound like a broken floppydrive... was the buzzing sound coming from the floppydrive? could you hear that? it is really easy to replace... but i advice you; take it to a repair centre

OK

I really couldn't hear any noise coming fro mthe floppy drive, but it happened just as I hit "do it" to preview the sound. And then it was having a problem reading my startup disk. I have a zip coming anyway, but I would like to get the floppy problem solved.

Also will any Floppy drive work, because I have a few good floppy drives in my old computers I can swap out.

Thanks

You could try them out - - but before you do, save the OS to zip so that you can boot up with it. Otherwise in worst case scenario you'll be unable to use the mpc until you get a working floppy going.
