:D

Wow... now that's a VERY useful tool!!!!

I finally got my mpc back. now im dying to give jj his 40 bucks.

All I gotta say is this...

Im cool with all that was lost, 1 filter, 1 pad bank, etc. cuz IMO what we gained is way doper... for real.

but who knows. he MAY put the old features back on the os 2...

but do we really need him to do that? ???

since he made the os 1 and 2 switchable (which still blows my F***in mind) i guess that leaves major room for improvement.

I say to jj...

dont look back and keep adding NEW features!

keep rocking ya'll.

i think all he did was set OS4.9x to install OS2 in the internal memory location. then OS4.9x acts like boot software.

OS4.9x and OS2 both update an indicator that sets which OS you had running. when you turn on the MPC, 4.9x begins to load, it checks which OS you were running last and depending on if you're holding tap tempo or not it loads the appropriate OS.

quite clever. this is why you need to load OS2 from OS4.9x and why he changed the file extention to os2 instead of bin.

yea!
I finally had a chance to play around with v2,
and it's great! The aftertouch is wicked! I can't
understand why it wasn't included with the OG
Akai OS... The envelopes are awesome,
and it seems we can use both sliders at the
same time on samples with v2, which I could
never do with previous OS's.
for tweakery, V2 is the mutha fuggin bomb!

Also, I didn't experience any bugs or hang-ups,
(although I haven't tested it extensively)
so I'm thinking I may go ahead and buy it.

Keep it up JJ!

melton are you saying that os 2 is good enough for production right now, i obviously wouldn't use it for any live applications but for studio use is the chopping, muting recording, and sequencing good enough?

i can't use it yet, but i can sure test it. i can't record pad performances in Midi Grid Edit yet. needs more work. as jj said it's in the middle of development.

i found myself workin with os1 last night again. i'm so comfortable with it.

I haven't used it extensively, and I rarely go into grid edit, or mixer mode, so I'm sure there's probably some big bugs that I'm not aware of, but it's worked fine for me the last couple nights messing with it. No crazy screens or hang-ups. ND chop is my dream come true on this machine. And the ADSR/aftertouch make creating sounds much more organic and interesting. I like the new main screen too. The new "inst" program is pretty dope too, but it would be nice if you could assign different envelopes to each sample.

So, I couldn't say if it's ready of production, I'm a pretty casual user lately so I may not be the best judge on if it's ready. I'll probably buy it myself soon, might as well, as I'm sure I'll get it eventually.

yea, as far as making anything solid on it yet it was kind of a let down.

but it isnt like i didnt know that it was in development.

the sound drops out from time to time... and sequences from old programs are hit or miss.

so 75% of the time im like let me load up something i normally f**k with, you know, layer in my drums like 99% of the time.

so, im playing with my hollow sun 808 kit... and oh boy... who would've thought that something so played out, overused, and beat to death can sound soooooooooooo... fresh. 8)

but as far as messing with adsr

and assinging drum loops non destructively 8)

and the effects/out routings a wee bit easier to access... not that it wasnt before but if you fiddled with os 2 you know what i mean

its just set up better to maximize how you layer and mold your drum kits

then there is simult/mute groups

and aftertouch.... wow...

i never felt so happy to lose filter 2 in my life

so... im good with it for now.... this is just a practice run for me and whatever odd things i find on the way ill just holler at jj!
