that's the difference

what these specs do not tell is wether you can use all this in a live situation or not. can you switch anything on the fly or just some functions? must the sequencer be stopped to store a recorded sample? can you use the realtime controls to control other devices via midi?
but as with any professional music gear both are most likely designed to make music with, so it is up to your artistic capabilities what you can get out of the technical limitations live on stage.

It seems to me that the MV-8800 (for composing in studio) is clearly.

For the others functions, they are almost identical.
Yes I know, It's always as you use the gear who is important, the capabilities.

The MV-8800 will be used with :

- Virus TI Desktop

- Andromeda
- Revolution synthesizer R2
- Axiom 49 (to draw melody into MV-8800)

good choice

For playing the unit itself as a live instrument the 8800 has some clear advantages.

6 banks of samples per instrument

32 banks of Audio Phrases

512 of RAM

These features put it past the 2500 in live situations where loading samples into max 128 can really kill a set. IMO

You can also route external sounds directly through the MFX Bass Synth filter banks which can can add a new twist to your sounds.

Digital Network- have you considered a more advanced sampler than a percussive type units like the mpc/mv? The old mega-samplers like the E-Synth , Kurzweils or S-5000 are dirt cheap and better options if you want to be more musical with your sampling.

I think that is the edge this MV machine has over the MPC 4000 - more funtionality and features...

Opportunity came to me to switch the mpc2.5k and some loot to the mv-8800 with 17@ screen.. Now I dont really know what to do, cause the mv seems a bit too much for me & my work flow. But It would still be fvcking dope, and good investment i guess..

I felt the same way bro. IMO... The MV was way overpowering with it's bells and whistles coming from working a 2000XL for 5 years.
The VGA/mouse connection is a Godsend on the MV. It's an all in one unit for production.
It took me awhile to get used to it and i am still learning it.
