Technics SL-DZ1200, any comments?

yea, 1150$ is crazy, but they did a great job. Eliminating the need of being connected to the computer as an enourmous advantage over it's competitors. Plus, it has some dope features, like playing directly from the CF cards

Yes . . . . . I'm back . I have a Pioneer CDJ and I wish to f#ck that the Technic's "shizzy" was out when I bought it . It's a buck cheaper and the features blow the Pioneer sh!t out the water . I know it's taboo but CD/DJ machines are unbelievably convenient . If you have a group you can have your MC spit a line for a hook, sample it into the MPC, put it on CD, and then cut that sh!t up to your hearts content . God bless technology, and if you aren't up to it . . . . . keep sinking (trust me . . . I was a traditionalist for years and all that sh!t got me was angry w/ change and confused w/ technology) . Oh, yeah . . . . I got the CDJ brand-new, in-the-box, off e-bay for $900 back in December . Peace .

Looks cool. But $1150, come on now?
You can burn your own tracks to cd and play them out at a gig? Wow. At this price it might be cheaper to cut a dub of your track, 50 times.
The whole point of final scratch and stuff was that you didn't have to haul all your records to the venue, this thing looks as if it weighs more than two bags of vinyl. I'm sure it's a cool toy to have, but is anybody going to bring two of these to the club? Are clubs going to buy a pair jus to please the people that play cd's? I think not.
The best thing about Technics 1200's was that everybody knows how to play them because they've been the same for a decade. this will never happen with cd decks in the near future if they keep coming up with a new gadget every year.

Update March 2004: By now, the Technics SLDZ1200 CD decks are on the market. But, I have to sadly announce that according to the general concensus, they simply SUCK. I have got feedback from many DJs I respect and they all said that the Technics still have a long way to go against the Pioneer CDJ-1000s (the now standard DJ digital CD tabletop players). Basically, they should stick to convetional analog turntables. This is all sad news but let's all hope that they will do something about it and improve them as they surely look nice and seem designed in a very clever manner.

I work @ a local DJ Suppy store. My manager went to NAMM and had a chance to play with the technics. Said they were dope as hell but, numark is releasing one if june that blows it away. Its as big and heavy as a TTX turnatable and has a full size 12in platter w/ a vinyl record on top. Think of it as a TTX turntable that you can slide CDs into. Its gonna sell for 799.99 when it gets into the shops in june.
