Is an MPC 60 right for me?

Ok, so i've owned a few 1k's over the years but i kind of got over the mpc thing when i found i got the same results in software. Since the 1k was really clean, it really made no difference and i found software to be easier, etc.

Now i'm looking for some gear that has characterist sound. Something i can use with software or stand alone. I never wanted any of the older mpcs because it's so easy to use the new ones and just transfer sounds.


Anyway, i recently bought an akai s2000 rack and have it hooked up to my computer through scsi. So now i can chop everything up in recycle and just send it to my rack in a matter of seconds. So...i'm thinking i could use a mpc 60 as a sequencer. In my head this makes alot of sence because i can really get down on the chopping in software, use my rack for that and sequence on the 60. And then i can use my 60 for drums. If i want to sample through it, i can, but i figure it will mostly be used for a sequencer/drum machine.

On top of that, if i want to run some drums through it for computer use, i have a good machine to give me a different sound. So i figure i can kind of combine the convience of software, and then basically have an mpc 2kxl and a 60 all in one.


Anyway, am i being too optimistic on this? Does this sound like a plan??

You could do that. I mean you could also just use the 60 and the s2000 together and that's it or sell the s2000 and buy a S950 or S3000 or S32000XL cause they have a fatter sound and more warmth to with the 60. But how you want to do things is up to you cause it's you using it and not me.
