But back to the topic: anybody else thinking that the new main screen of v2 is totally overloaded?

Yup, I had some thing... but you did what, place the mpeg on the cf card and installed as normal?? And the MP saw it??

Just trying to be clear cause that mpeg is sitting in my trash can, thinking it would not get recognized.

hehhe, i assume u are using macs too?

if macs dont know what it is exactly - they can attribute file types to the wrong creator sometimes...

i tried it anyway - even tho' mac said it was a QT file, n mpc saw it fine as an OS binary.

not that it was any use, i hated the os as soon as i got it runnin, mostly cos it had ruined some progs that i'd been workin on for 8 weeks, done in os 495 for a liveset, but here in os2 the envelopes were (obviously) not compatible with the new scheme i expect. so i'll try in about 3months time when its all blown over.

Thanks arebee.

I will think about loading it when I get home from work and see if it stays.

it's not going to blow over. os1 programs won't be compatible with os2 programs and vice versa.

yeah sorry to be blunt nym, i know the compatibility thing, i just meant i'll prolly be more up for OS2 when i can give it a real try - ie: when it actually works properly - and you know how it's a nightmare beta testing when there's a lot riding on mpc work commitments....right now i def dont wanna be duplicating all my programs for two separate OS's just to try an embryonic halfbuild out.

good hunting chaps, wake me when its feathered, topped n tailed.

"OS2 is brand-new os. OS2 coexists with os1."

more like OS 2 competes with OS1 for tasty morsels of brand new programs, time n tears of never looking back upon yestervibes, if they're not compatible, they DO NOT coexist.

not in my encyclopedia anywaysh.

is it safe to assume OS2 is the only OS getting updates from now on?

yeah i get you. however, when jj says they coexist, he means that both are installed on the MPC at the same time. this isn't about backwards/forwards compatibility, it's 2 machines now.

i am still very much on os1. i haven't even started a project in os2 because current functions that are part of my workflow aren't finished. GPE and MIDI GRID EDIT for instance are not done, so i can't use os2 for real yet. i just use it to prepare and create multisampled programs for when i can really get in there.

what do you mean?

my OS1 PGM files are currently working just fine in OS2 (I guess any that use two filters will be slightly off though) -- are you saying that when OS2 is finished that they will no longer work?

my os1 programs have functioned exceedingly erratically when i've loaded them in os2. the samples sounded really weird, this continued in other builds.

the most recent one, i don't know yet. we will see.
the point is as you said dvs that programs with filter2, four layers, and other moved/removed features won't be the same. such programs won't load fine in os2.

Does any ones screen get scrambled in the assign sample to pad screen?
