Quantize!?!?!?! HOW DO I TURN T OFF???

This really sucks, I can not figure out how to turn this Quantize b/s off! lmao! I don't have a manual to help me cuz I bought my MPC used. could somebody give me an step by step pleeeease?

the mpc still quantizes a bit even when timing is turned off. i read about it in another forum before i had one and now that i have one, i can definitely tell. it's not that noticeable unless you're used to less forgiving pad controllers run through a daw like ableton.

either that or i really am half man, half amazing (which is probably true either way)

that's BS... when quantize is off the MPC will put the notes at the closest tick, and there's 96 ticks per beat... if you call that quantize, nice for you, but i'd barely call it that, unless I was playing beats at 30 BPM...

i did say "a bit" which means "very slightly" if that clarifies anything for you. ableton has a greater ppq and from what i've read in the ableton board, logic is even more precise. actually there's a lot of people wishing the ppq in live was smaller, or at least adjustable, because of the sync issues it can cause. i think this lower ppq is part of what people always refer to as "the mpc sound" ("mpc swing" etc) or whatever people want to call it. the greater resolution in DAWs is probably a part of why beats created in them always sound so robotic and cold without a good amount of tweaking (see also: early 9th wonder). plus, the mpc doesn't have all the frustrating latency issues one will invariably face when using midi with a daw.

It is all a matter of speaking...
however, to increase the resolution, the usual trick is to double the BPM, or even quadruple it (in the limit of 300BPM).
