MPC 1000 Pad Issue - Repost

already posted this in getting started but maybe ill have more luck here;

new to the forum, even newer to production in general..
been saving up for the mpc-1000 for about a year now
haven't copped it yet but im gettin ready to make the final decision
and i got quick a question for all the veterans out there who have exp w/the box..in the past year i recall coming across alot of mixed reviews, specifically ones claiming the pads to be faulty..my q is this a real problem &&have they fixed it since the original production of the box? &&some say you gotta spend $200 on upgrade pads but I aint sure if that's just for the older models..Im plannin to get the mpc1000BK, black on black with the version 2 update...anybody? peace out. stay up. amateurama

I just got a MPC1000 BK with the old pads over EBAY for 600$ w/shipping new (it said "opened for testing", but who knows really)

I have shitty pads that are stiff as **** and register double hits sometimes for no reason. . . I cant afford a pad upgrade yet so I have to use the step edit function to edit double hits out and just set full velocity on all my hits..


basically.. youll never know until you open the box if you have the crappy pads.. so GL..

p.s even after the pads and the RAM and the 2 gig CF my MPc 1k will have cost me 900$ . . . which is still a good deal..

true that man..ya saved a good chunk of cash there..well, ima be copping my mpc 1k factory sealed, idk if that will make a difference but my fingers are crossed..i heard people with new pads complain about the double-hit thing too tho? who knows.

ive never heard that.. but honestly man factory sealed means nothing. . open that shit and make sure there is a return policy wherever you grab it, you are going to be pissed if you get the shit pads... jsut a word of warning...

if i didnt get such a good deal i would be steaming

just found a tutorial joint on how to tell the new pads from the old--
im pretty sure if they say the box is sealed, it's sealed though..
otherwise that would be called false advertisement..and americanmusicalsupply.com would have a huge legal problem ;]
ive heard only good things from their customers though--specifically people who bought mpcs in the last month--apparently their newer shipments do indeed have the new pads =] this is still unclear, though..

my new ones double hit. but its a minor annoyance.

check the serial number on the box, if it starts with (21)K1 i think it has the new pads. this isnt verified but a few of us who have the new pads have that SN

what version? I have 3.8.. sometimes it corrects recording on playback but sometimes it doesnt... is that what you are reffering to with the term "on the fly"?
