MPC 2000 questions

I have a couple questions about my 2000. I was going to sell it because I never really used it and have the MV8800 but decided to keep it and use it with my drum set up to trigger Vdrum pads and sequesnces. 1is where can I buy a new LCD for it and any idea of how much it may cost? 2. What can I upgrade to as far as hard drives, zip drives instead of using a floppy or in place of the floppy? I would rather remove it completely. 3. Is the flash rom the way you can install the os and never have to load by floppy again? if so where can I buy that and about what it costs?

2. You can get a scsi drive whether it is zip or hard drive or card reader (which many people around here recommend) for the 2k.

3. Then you can load the os to that, so when you fire up your mpc it will boot from scsi instead of floppy. No need to get the flash memory, which is rare and expensive.

What's the largest size Hard Drive the 2K recognizes? Also can you install any ide floppy drive to replace the internal or do you have to buy a specific type?

I tried to load the OS on my zip and it did not recognize it. I have the 2K not the 2KXL. I heard you can only do that on the XL. If I could do that that would solve half my prob and I won't have to buy the XL.

You should have no problem loading the OS from a zip drive. I did it on my 2K with a Jaz drive before switching to an external card reader. You just have to have those 2 files on the Zip disk.

I don't hae to do anything different other than save the os? I'll try it again.

i saw the flash rom on ebay 3 weeks ago and it was only $100. and you wont ever have to load your os again. more reliable than the external load also. i think the 2000 reads at 500mb intervals and like a 2gb max for a hard drive. so if you have 2gb it will have 4 partitions.
