Bought mine for 600 bucks, just factory standard. No, I don't think you got ripped off. Every single blue one (MCD version) I've seen goes for something like 550-700 bucks.

not really, 700 for an mcd is pretty good. I paid 500 for my original XL that had 32mb ram, effects card and scsi zip drive.

Thos SE models are NASTY! You'd have to pay me to rock one of those. A good friend of mine got a 4000, and he's sending it to Forat to paint it up like a classic 3000. That's going to look sweet.

The MPC2000XL continues Akai Professional's tradition of providing rock solid sequencing and drum programming combined with powerful sampling facilities in one convenient and portable desktop unit and now in an attractive new livery.
New features on the MPC2000XL include Next Sequence key, four bank keys to effectively provide 64 pads, Track Mute key, hinged LCD, multi-program playback, device naming, MIDI soft thru, multi-track recording, time stretch, resampling, simultaneous playback of a second sequence plus folder file management.
Best of all, though, is that this power works with you instead of against you - if you've ever used a computer-based sequencer/sampler, you'll know exactly what we mean!
Whether you're producing drum 'n' bass, sequencing a rack-full of MIDI modules or performing live; whether you're programming intricate drum parts or triggering loops, you'll love the self-contained convenience and ease of use the MPC2000XL gives you and the MPC2000XL's friendly and intuitive user interface simplifies the expression of your creativity.
The MPC2000XL's compact and rugged build also means that is equally at home on stage as it is in the studio.
Some Key Features Of The MPC 2000XL

This other dude was trying to sell me a 4000, either barely used or new, for $700 SHIPPED. Nope, I just checked my email and it was listed with a $20 starting bid, with free shipping, and there was only 20 hours left in the auction. I think the $700 part came in when dude responded to my email. I wasn't even looking for a 4000, but if dude was going to be stupid enough to sell it for $20, I would have bought them ALL! He said he had a few of them too.

Well, I just got clowned by a guy representing a studio who sold me a 3200xl which was ripped off from the sampleverb and filterverb boards and left with only the 8 outs, i.e. only the ones who were visible from outside. However, that sucker got filed back on ebay as a scam and unless he send me those boards, he and his studio store soon will be history. Anyhow, always remember that paypal and ebay got strength as long as you can cover your ass!
