the thing is with any destructive digital processing, the program is sort of improvising....it only removes what it was programmed to remove, but like the last dude said, you may lose more than the pops...you may lose that snap & crackle.....honestly, if the sound of the MEDIUM inherently bugs you, why torture yourself? sample from cd's & tapes & make some sh*t....
i prefer wax myself, but i have a couple homies that use everything...mp3's, cds.....and they make dope beats regardless......
depends how u remove the sound tho.. and how u process it after...
If u cut alot of the top end to eliminate hiss (theres various diff ways to do it resulting differently from each other) and its not as bright u could use harmonic exciter or something of the likes to bring the top end back out and get it sparkling again..
Theres various ways to improve a sound and add brightness etc which can work wonders when done right, u just need to understand a lil about what ur doing and how processing certain frequencies can effect others so that u can work whatever processes u use properly to achieve a nice result
