hey ppls I just have a quick question DJ-T or EMF if you reading or any others who have done painting work on the MP feel free to chime in. I am about to do some paint work on the 2000 and I just wanted to know if I paint the data wheel will cease to function? The reason why I ask b/c the more I'm inspecting the MP I am worried paint will seep through the small spaces on the data wheel and won't dry proper and f my wheel up. I know u can get replacement data wheels so I know they can be taken off and put back on. Same w/ the buttons (F1, play, etc.) can they be put back on after painting relatively easy? All help welcome Peace

Nahh
Just disassemble the entire date wheel then prime and spray paint. The only thing you gotta do is make sure that you don't spray the coat too thick otherwise the datawheel will not be able to rotate freely.

unless you are using automotive. your best bet is to use some krylon fusion. 2-3 thin coats. all within a couple hours of each other. if you wait longer than a day or so it will most likely lift the prior coats and wrinkle. also clean your parts in alcohol first to remove any contaminates that might cause fisheye. just so you know im not full of sh!t check my latest job.

Jazz good looking on the response and Lunatic same as well I saw that MP a couple of days ago I was on here ish is looking funky make sure u post the final pics. Will I have to spray a primer coat on the data wheel or is cleaning in alcohol sufficent and then just apply the paint as such? Thanx a mil ppls!!!

if you use krylon fusion you wont need to prime. but being a painter in trade i have found that not many products stick to plastic too well. even spray paint primers arent too good. on something you are going to be handleing alot like the data wheel, you should probably go with the fusion. i have dont about 6 like this and they all are still holding up.
