I just bought my MPC1000 a couple days ago and I figured out the basics with sampling and drum sequincing and what not, but I'm still having a lot trouble. My equipment as of now is (besides the 1000) a behringer 12 track mixer, m-audio speakers, a korg midi controller, stanton turntables and a Dell computer. My main question is how do I use my midi keyboard? I know absolutely nothing about keyboards/midi at all, but I was told to sample bass notes into the mp (which I figured out), and then make the korg the master (which I don't know how to do either) and I will be able to play the bass notes on the keyboard into the mpc. I also don't have or know how to set up any recording software either, so if anyone can give me any advice I'd really appreciate it.

sorry the for the long post.
thanks.

use this guide homie

instead of the boss drum machine use an mpc.. it works for with some additions tho. . ie, stereo out from mpc also going to mixer, for jamming when DAW is off

wow, thanks. the visual helps a lot, but I had one problem. On the diagram, it shows to put the steroe outs of the mpc into the mixers line in 11/12. However, I just have my stereo outs (which I'm pretty sure is the wrong set up) going into the channel inserts 1 and 2 in the back of the mixer; it also shows to have the speakers going through the control room out, mine seem to only work when in the main out. I also can't control my tracks through the various track channels, instead all the tracks come from lines one and two. I guess I'm doing something wrong though. even so, thanks for the diagram it makes things a lot easier to understand.

why the hell did you plug the MPC out in the inserts? this is for external FX, plug the MPC stereo out into their own channel strips.
Also I don't own a behringer mixer, but there should be two seperate volume knobs, one for the control/monitor out, one for the rec out interface. Probably teh volume is down if you can't hear the sound coming from your speakers.

I understand your frustration man, it took me a while to understand this shit.. .

http://www.tweakheadz.com/how_to_hookup_a_mixer.htm

this site helped me a lot.. I tried to readup on the board but it seems like people are not to willing to help most of the time.. I can do my best but j ust remember i am a couple of steps ahead of you. . I JUST got my DAW setup running and began tracking tunes into Cubase, im telling ya bud, IT FEELS GOOD!! :D

also dont plug into inserts.. . freezerman was right..

when you say all the tracks come through one and two, what i did was plugged my rca outs on my soundcard to a channel on my mixer using a Dual RCA to single 1/4" chord.. . so my VST's are on that channel.. as well as recording playback

yeah, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I didn't notice I had the volume down all the way on the control room out, that's why the sound wasn't coming out. Thanks for all the help though, I'm clearly not too tech savy. I just got my mpc like a week ago and now I'm kinda broke so I don't even have a soundcard/interface. that website also helped a lot too.
