I was in the lab making this beat with 160 tempo, fast tempo but a slow beat ya know. I couldn't get the kick to hit just right, I tried all timing 1/8, 1/16 , 1/32 even triplets still it was off. Although 1/32(3) came the closest. So I tried non-quantize, at such a fast tempo i think, i couldn't get the kick right still. I think if we had 64th notes, alot of drum issues in timing would be corrected, no?

Max tempo is 300 bpm, so you'll have to settle for 150 double time.

work on your timing and you wont need quantize. this is part of the reason most peoples music sounds consecutive and not real. as in electronic. a real drummer never hits every piece perfectly. no matter how good they are. and that's real.
so go on.... turn off that quantize son.... make some real sh!t
practice makes perfect. even when its not "perfect"

I really don't quantize anything I used to but I coudn;t really get that boom bap feel I was looking for. You could just start with a kick at the beginning of every bar and build from there. Layering/overdub the other kicks til they fit right.

You may have already tried this but just throw a dummy snare on track 2 for timing then turn off the quantize. That way you can fit your kicks in the right places, and get the feel your looking for. Then go back a redo your snares or just leave it there and layer over it...
