Overpriced 60's on Ebay...

I have one waiting in the wings. Hope they come through. That's another story. People wishing and hoping to own these classic machines but wind up wasting your time.

I have a feeling you were talking about my auction. I realize it probably won't sell for that much, but some people are desperate and some perople are stupid. If you want it bid on the auction, and if you want it now use BIN, but its gonna cost ya. Its just ebay, or selling in general, strategy...

yo, my 1200 was shipped the same way, that shit was falling out of the box when the UPS guy got here...a screw broke the plastic case on hte back left and the face plate of the disk drive fell off..I was heated, but it worked great and they gave me a skundy back so I was happy

i bought an s950 from a forum member who will go unnamed.... when i recieved it it was just in a bigazz box floating around in packing peanuts, no wrapping or anything other than the box and peanuts, looked like he just dropped the sampler off at the shipping place and the just dropped the schit inna box and surrounded it in peanuts... when i fired the thing up it worked, for a second, as soon as i tried to load a floppy disk the thing died instantly and never worked again.... anyway, i have a feeling that the peanuts did a little damage to the machine since it was just shipped floating around in the peanuts in the box.... packing peanuts seem to have a little static ellctrical charge or something, maybe thats what flowers up the s950 in transit.... after a few emails back and forth i arranged to have the thing sent back, i got my $200 back, but ended up being out around $40-$50 for shipping the item both ways... dude claimed it had fully updated memory but when i received it it was a stock 512Kwords installed, not 1536Kwords, needless to say i was pissed, faulty sampler poorly packed and no memory chips either... i think he had a fuse replaced and the thing fired up again, only to die for good again once they tried to load a disk... lol, last thing i heard about that machine was an ad i saw for it for $100....



im not sure but i think the static charge that packing peanuts have are dettrimental in some way to electronics, some of the peanuts were actually fallling apart and crumbling in the box, maybe some small particles of styrofoam worked their way into the circuitry or something...


always wrap your gear in bubble wrap before submerssing into a sea of styrofoam...

nah...nobody specific just in general. Lots of overpriced 60 auctions, some of which ended early before I could even consider getting a question, let alone a bid. Your asking price is high considering the joint is lacking SCSI but nothing personal. I'm more so frustrated, especially since my money is in hand and my MKII boxed up and ready to roll to Forat but I've been held up waiting for a reasonable MKI to come up and stay long enough for a bid.

maybe that means they're pricing them too low?

YO SLT,do you think a messed up SP1200 is worth 1500$?
That Machine is way to overpriced if you askin me...compare the prices from the machines when they came out,then you know what it has to be worth now.
If you want an Ol'Skool machine nowadays,you have to pay for it,so stop complaining.

Well...I'm not Alan Greenspan but I would say a SP in good condition is worth $1200-1350...same goes for a tan 3k.

I'm not trying to be a used car salesman though. Hopefully someone who can fix it, or use it otherwise gets it. Its just taking up space here.

Yeah, The outs is probably a easy fix if you give to Forat.

I'm assuming the DACs need adjusting as per a recent topic, but I don't have the time or energy. Could be something completely different too! Anyway, sorry for hijacking!! I'd just assume keep the parts and upgrades but I could use the christmas $$$.

dunno. mint 60s are getting rarer, so it makes sense if the price goes up. got mine for 650 with flight case, 3.1 os and scsi. wont see deals like that anymore. im gonna keep it around and give it to my kids.
