Note assign, MPC 500

I MIDI'd my MPC 500 to a Casio keyboard and followed all of the instructions. The pads play notes and the keyboard's local control is off. But when I try to assign the pads to different notes, they stay the same. How do I change the notes the way I want to?

Have you set the tracks type to 'midi' as opposed to 'drum'?

maybe make sure that the note on the keyboard is the same as the one on the mpc. ie C#1 on your casio and make sure pad A 1 (or whatever pad you wana use) is set to C#1 also.
