nah u playin it down, its still very powerfull, although i havent even been near a intel mac yet...

i still get quite a bit out of my G4 titanium 500mhz laptop. - i use that for all os9 apps i still like - that u cant get in osx.

but a dual 2ghz 64bit wide G5 powerPC plenty for all my osx apps. plenty o' ram too.

lets face it - these would be considered to be super computers by only a few years back standards. heheh 80's mbe.

I can't understand why nobody else has done this yet. Possibly because most people are as lazy as I am. You're a hero and I will write songs about your deeds.

What you coding it in?

For me (especially since JJOS added GPE), program editors are mainly about a quick way to drag in a whole load of samples and have it automatically assign them to pads with sensible defaults. There's no decent way of doing this on windoze at the mo.. so if yr app can do it, I'm happy as larry. Bluebox sort of does it, but I have to go and edit each pad's output volume etc separately which takes about 10 times longer than doing it in JJOS... so I don't use it. I guess that could be your guiding design principle "Is at least as fast as using JJOS to do the same thing?"

Another handy feature that should be far easier than building in a wave editor is having a simple converter. e.g. something that can read 24bit or 96KHz soundfiles and automagically convert them to 16bit 44.1KHz when it saves the program. A simple peak-scan/normalise and stereo->mono converters could also be good.

But even a half decent way of adding 32 samples to 32 pads in one go would make me weep tears of joy.

yeah agree with you, i mean quite enough to run win98 in emulation under osx

i did the same with my old g4 but was really not comfortable

this is a five-star post. spot-on in every aspect. put this guy on the beta test team and executive advisory board.

this new mpc editor app has come out of nowhere and given me a serious boner

I think it would be cool to have a step sequencer in something like that so you can fiddle around with basic song ideas and see if things will fit before taking it into the MPC.

Asking too much?

thats a good idea imo - just something simple as a quick sketchpad

i know there was another project kicking around on these forums, that basically emulated an mpc on a pc. might be tight to have integration between these two apps? i'm just throwing ideas out...

speaking of which, you suppose JJ tests ideas on a pc with an emulation of the mpc engine? meaning that he basically has a 'mpc vst' sat in the wings? i'm not sure it would make much sense to many people to have a 'virtual' mpc, but in the context of this editor app it would be a VERY useful way of testing out sample structures and ideas before taking it to the pads and sliders...
