Sound Module?

Hey i'am in the market for a sound module i looking to buy the MOTIF RACK
1U now i'am looking for some phat sounds drums or anything good hiphop
sounds can someone please tell me what is the best sound module for
hiphop

If you want what everybody else has already, then go for the Triton Rack. The Motif is newer to the Hiphop community. It hasn't been completely dawged yet. But it's soon coming. The Roland JV or XV series would be cool too.

Don't get me wrong, all of those units are sweet and well worth it. Do a demo of each at your local music store.

get a cheap azz asr-x and throw an urban dance card in it. You can just use that as a phat sound module....plus it has cool fx.

Well i went and got the Roland-XR now i have my MPC,TRITON LE Keyboard
and now the XR what else do i need as far as equipment to finish my mini stuido?

yeah, when i read your first post i was gonna say check out the new roland rack. I have a similar setup.

anyways, id say dont forget about "recording" a mixer is probably a must......but wouldnt it be nice to be able to nicely take the track from beginning to end? I.E. really use your DAW to add space and record a nice mix of your productions.

If you plan on selling your beats, you can also bank on a good recording setup as well, i.e. sell your beats, then charge studio time to record the artist over your beats!

So far your setup looks complete (as far as sounds and creation) Maybe try building a collection of your own signiture sounds!!!!? like creating your own patches, resampling some chords from your modules, or layering, then sampling. Ya know? that way you get the good sound of the triton le, or roland, but also have your own unique style to it. BUT LOOK AT IT LIKE adding to your setup, not just "making a sounds for a beat." Like set time apart for just sound creation, youc an have tons of equipment, but if you aint got your original sound, its still just a bunch of equipment-ya know?

ALSO work on perfecting your "work flow" as in, what sounds come from what, and how you manage your samples and seq. i personally like my drums comming from the mpc, my triton sequenced via midi, and any multisample in my triton, and phrase samples in my mpc. when i load a beat(even if its months old) i know where the sounds are.

Also on the DAW thing, there are 3 producers for the group im working with, they all end up coming to me because i can record fast and efficiently, from creations to cd. I plan on investing in a "protools" setup. I already got the computer, but will get the digi 002, or 002 rack. Basically i plan on banking with the digi 002 because I can claim that i got the best beats, plus i can record better than the next producer. Rappers love to hear "protools"!!!!!!

also add to your setup: some vinyl, even if your not a big vinyl sampler, a couple "organic" samples can make those keyboard beats alot better. also forgot MONITORS, a good pair of monitoring speakers: anything from EVENt like the bias 20/20 powered monitors.

as far as saying what everyone else has then listing a Motif, that is sorta the trend atm

im goanna get a eurorack mixer for now cause i'am goanna get the Prp tools so okay now that i have a mixer i should be able to sample from my keyboard while still playing a sample from the MPC like a drum cause how would i go about hooking that up

I have never heard any module/keyboard that had good drum sounds. Sure you can find a few kicks, snares, etc, but the kits are all just about wack. I have the S-90, which has the same sounds as the motiff.. the drums are flat, definately need a lot of tweaking, and even after all that, they are just too clean (for me)..if you use a module, I would invest in a 12bit or lower sampler to add a spice of dirt to it, but it all depends on what music your making.. jazz, R&b, pop, etc, your fine, even mainstream rap, but for the underground pete rock type ish, it's not gonna cut it. I do take other percussive sounds fropm it tho, the cymbals, and all the other sounds are good in just about any keyboard/module, but I personally find kicks and snares (the meat and potatoe of a hip-hop track) to be wack in all commercial packages. Sounds for samplers has nice drum sounds, but your gonna pay an arm, leg, and a couple toes for em tho.
If your looking for a module tho, you can create your sounds from scratch (well layering) and then re-sampling, but I'm talking about pre-set drum kits and sounds, and remember, guitar center uses nice Rolls preamps to make the gear sound better. If your a bedroom producer like me, it won't sound the same when you get it home.

if I were you... for dope drums and realistic sounds buy the new roland-XR sound module with the SRX 'Dynamic Drums' expansion, you can check what they sound like at rolandus.com... f**kin bangin...

edit: ahh, i just noticed you already got the XR, just get the drum expansion and your set.
