Yo, I had a mpc 500 and I currently own a ESX-1, chopping in the ESX is nothing like chopping in the 500. The 500 is much more drawn out process and as you have to extract every chop from the original sample then you have to move your start point and end points to the next chop and so forth and on and on and on.Granted the mpc 500 gives you much more control than the ESX-1 but chopping is more work. Don't get me wrong when your in a pinch chopping on the 500 is fine but the perfered way to chop IMO is going to be recycle.....you'll save yourself some time.

You can set the 500 up to do either. The Poly setting will allow you to overlap samples and the Mono setting will cut off the sample when you hit another sample. You can set this up globally which will effect all pads in the program or you can set it per pad.
