Transporting Records

Hey whatup yall,
I have about 18 crates of wax that I'm putting on a 20foot sea container with all my equipment, moving from Hawaii to the mainland.....I WAS gonna just make sure the crates are packed tight & load the wax in the container like that....
But i was told I should get 'record boxes' instead as they can be packed so as to keep the pressure even among all the records....I didn't really think that'd be much of a factor....was more worried about heat buildup in that metal container....

Anyone have any solid advise on this?? any experience shipping 1000+ records?? Much appreciated

make sure there packed tight and cover them with a blanket to keep dust and dirt away from them.
pack tight cause this will help them to keep straight if they are in a heated area, cover them with a blanket to keep the dust from other containers and sh!t off them too.

flip your sleeves in inside the jacket too incase the dust gets to the records it wont totally destroy your vinyl

I wouldn't worry about it being warm it's been cold & it's gonna start raining again in Cali.

right on for the tips yall....im not really concerned about the weather Cali side, moreso the Hawaii side of the journey....my house is an oven come 5pm....

So, do you recommend gettin boxes? or just using my crates....the tips are crucial though, will implement....just don't wanna f*ck up my wax, you know...spent too much time & money on em to have em all warped & jacked up in transit.....any more suggestions? much appreciated!

yeah the boxes would be your safest bet, but if there packed in crates like you goin to a gig i would just try to cover them on the top maybe put some towels on top of the crates.

heat wont really fuc with the vinyl unless it's in direct sunlight and make sure there straight not bent or slumped over thats what cause dish warp.
i say to get the boxes cause they may have tops on them where you can bundle up the records tight so nothing happens to them i would probably go with that cause I'm not really sure how to move from overseas, i live on the main land so i have never had to pack like i was moving overseas feel me?

yeah, i ended up gettin a bunch of boxes....a small price to pay to protect such a massive investment...thx folks

Make sure you pack them tight and don't let them lean over.

packin em as tight as i can without rippin the box.....fo sho............think ima place the boxes in the middle of the crate on the floor, so any heat's gotta really build up in that container before it hits my wax....im comin from Hawaii, & its December & all, but today must've been like 83degrees....

Fo'real I just talked to my auntie and she said that it's been raining like crazy there? How are the waves right now? I miss Hawaii!

yeah it has been rainin a lot lately, mostly @nite though....im in Honolulu...Palolo side....so we get it all...the torrential pours AND the direct sun on my house all day....with around 3000 records, best believe we got ALL house fans on full blast all day everyday!!! or @least we try to....Come 6pm, the house gets like an oven.....

I got a 20foot container & it just pulled up @the house today....its not so big as it sounds....only 4 days in transit to get to the SFC! ima get my sh*t the day after C-Mas....im so jazzed!
