Hey guys, just a quick question. I've been sampling from my cd deck through my mpc 500, and running the audio out through both the headphone out and the main l/r outs whilst monitoring.

When monitoring the signal through the main l/r outs, i am only recieving a feed through one speaker, even though the mpc is set to record through stereo and i have two 1/4" jacks hooked up to both speakers from the mpc. When playing the feed back through headphones, i am only recieving one side there also.

I have checked all my leads and connections, and the only hint of any bad contact is the headphone out 1/8" to 1/4" jack adapter which, when i tweak it a little bit, gives me sound in stereo briefly, then cuts back to one speaker.

I know this is long-winded, but i would appreciate some help from someone that knows what they are doing.

Dave.

Thanks for the preamp tip, hadn't thought of that as i was certain the cd player had a built-in preamp, but will give it a go. I have sent the unit back to Akai to test the outputs for the meantime, just to cover all bases.

Dave.

Sorry dude...but you know exactly where the problem is:

and yet you send it back to have it checked? Prepare for an invoice for shipping and checking it completely unnecessarily. The first thing I would have done is try a new cable and adapter.
