thats interesting. arebee, i really wonder in which way was this bug bothering your workflow ? could you explain me if you don t mind ?

for me this fix is a step backward because i was using this bug to gain more flexibility.

i used to have: "Immediate play" in next seq screen and main screen, and "end of sequence" in track mute screen. which was leaving the choice while playing.

now there is only one only way available at one time...

____
but well done for the random panning though :)

ooops, oh well, yeah i was using the track mutes page lots, and missed the immediate play all along, to go to the main window to switch immediately (wasn't immediate)....ironically i never ever reported this as a bug, hhhhmmm - glad i didnt - i'd feel well guilty.

but u have a very good point, and in a way i wish u could have both - ie settings for each window/screen.

By truvc Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:10 pm
hey, glad you understood my point.
i was trying to explain this to JJ. but I already had to send a second long email as the first one was not understood.

so yes, the previous version was allowing both settings, while the current version only allow one setting.

if you agree with me, maybe drop JJ a quick email, that could make the difference. ;)

at the end of the day, "immediate play" kicks ass in Next Seq screen for quick breaks.

but in track mute screen "immediate play" is ackward, because using the jog wheel for that purpose does not allow a very precise timing.

and also in track mute screen "end of sequence" is great because it allows to cue the next seq, and do other stuff while the current seq finish playing...

well - to be honest my main uses are nearly allways in the 'end of seq' mode - because my sequence steps are to be allways in sync with the rest of performers' midi machines that i work with/slave to......but if ever in 'brutal solo switch man mode' then it will be lush to exploit these instant chops/changes for the first time in 2 years!....hence my enthusiasm for the 'fix'.

but in which case go for yer life re-JJ, but i still think / thought that it was good to at least be able to do immediate in all the screens, but again i do sympathize, if u are indeed a heavy user of the immediate start, then u will lose out here more than most with this "bug" fix.
