Trackboyz production ....

just was reading the new SOURCE magazine and in a producers highlite, the trackboyz, who produced that straight Neptunes drum bite of a song "Tipsy" by J-Kwon, say that they both use the mpc-1000...it goes with them wherever they go....interesting.....

Why do all the new Producer feel the need to have the word "Track' in the Name?

If my 1000 ever makes cuts like that, I'm sending it back. All hook.

I know...and those guys are getting paper so I shouldn't hate. It sounds like something that was put together in five minutes to me though.

im not talking about tipsy specifically, but i know this... a simple song that works is way harder to write than a complicated one.

writing a song that will be easily understood by many is harder than writing something that will only be understood by a few.

tipsy was probably a hit becuase it was easy to understand and made its point very clear. even if it was cheesy (i kinda liked it even tho grindin was a better song).

there's a reason why def jux wont ever have a top selling record (not a dis, just an observation).

it's a trade off - write something simple and your audience will dig it. write something more esoteric and you get admiration from your peers. it's tough to get it right in the middle.

If somebody wack makes money you shouldn't hate? If somebody makes wack music that doesn't sell, I hate, so why not hate on someone wack making money? As long as you're not hating it BECAUSE it makes money then it's okay to hate it if its' WACK. That's why Satan gave us opinions in the first place....

You're right Toecutter. I'm glad they're gettng paper and promoting the 1000, but I hate the production on Tipsy.

You know what I hate about Tipsy, is the lack of creativity. So they jack the Grindin Drums and Pattern and add a corny ass synth melody and a wack rapper that can count to 5 and its hot. **** that.

Jermaine Dupri's almost demented claim that this fool is "going to save Hip-Hop". That, and being on the cover of the Source being called a major part of rap music's "new generation"...and he doesn't even have a second song out, OR and chart position!!! SICKENING.

I'm so pissed now I downloaded that Tipsy song off the Apple music store - I had no idea it was wack...thanks for filling me in - god, how could I have missed that - I mean I've been listening to it every morning and if it weren't for you guys I would have never thought it was wack - but it's all so clear now - DUH!

you guys should start a mailing list of "Who's Hot and Who's Not" and keep ignorant people like me from buying songs like Tipsy - sheesh! Where were you guys when I hit the "purchase" button...
