Hey folks!

Not sure if anybody else encountered this:

1. load a long sample, for example a 4 bar drum loop or a melody or bassline.
2. load some drums or instruments to play along with the long sample.
3. play the long sample, either in a sequence or just plain from a pad.
4. now play your instruments or drums along with the long sample, but play them fast, make some drum rolls or tremolos on the instruments.
5. the long sample cuts out in the middle!

it happens with all the operating systems and I tried it in a couple of different MPC1Ks too. Also, it doesnt make any difference if the long sample and the drums or instruments are in the same program or not. Couldnt be the polyphony issue either, since there are at most 4 or 5 sounds playing at the same time. Could it be the old pads, like somehow they would mute each other? I submitted this to JJ a few months ago, but this problem is still there. Bummer.

May be i have some settings set wrong? all my mutes are off, so i am not sure...

Please help! Thanks.

i say "poly", you say "phony":

polyphony!

polyphony!

i say "32", you say "voices":

32 voices!

32 voices!

this has to be a polyphony issue... if you use stereo samples and envelopes, 10 tracks playing can easily reach 32 voices.
try deleting some tracks and listen. i'm sure the play how they should now. and take a look at the polyphony-screen.

Thanks for the tip man! it probably is the poliphony.

the way i have it set up is like this: i got a long 4bar bassline sample on one pad and some ethnic string instrument tuned up and down throughout another 8 pads. The ethnic instrument is going through an internal delay, all samples are stereo, so i guess, even if i am not playing the sequencer and just triggering the bassline and playing the strings along with it, it reaches max poliphony. Makes sense, since the delays probably create extra voices. Gotta get an external effects box to do what i wanna do :D ...

Thanks again!

make sure poly is on... make your drum samples mono (the actual WAV file i mean)... spread them out on different tracks... and you should be more than covered.

no offense, because this is a very common issue, but don't submit bugs to jj unless you 100% know it's a bug.

this is 100% not a bug. search for the term polyphony mismanagement and you will find tons of answers. once you realize how to handle it you'll never have the problem again (unless you actually use 32 voices)

Thank you for your responses guys! really appreciate it. Antonym, i just wasnt sure what the problem was initially, thought it was a bug. Hope JJ dont spend time on this.
