USB Computer To MPC 1000 Problem

Hey guys ive had this thing for a couple days now and ive tried looking everywhere and contacting akai and everything for support but noone can help me so im hoping maybe you guys can. My problem is that when i hook up my MPC 1000 to my computer via usb it will detect it as a removable disk. When i try to drag a music file and drag it into the removable disk it says the following.

Please insert a disk into removable disk (G:)

What should i do?

Is your flash card inserted?

Assuming you already have your CF card inserted, i would proceed to format your card first. Then after your cards been formatted reboot and reconnect to the computer.
If that doesnt work - its either your internal card reader or your CF card is bunk....Notify Akai if that sh*ts busted tho - they owe u another one player!

something tells me there was no compact flash card in when you did this

If there was no card, it shouldn't detect a drive at all. Unless it's a loose connection that was lost after the detect. Some of my cards have to be nudged in the slot now and then.

But yes, it could also be a formatting issue. Just make sure the card is formatted with the MPC and not the computer. If it's the included Akai card it should already be formatted correctly, unless they screwed up. But wait, it's Akai so it's impossible they screwed up, right?

How would i go about "formatting" the card? All i did was i took the 128 MB card out and put it in the memory slot and hooked up the usb etc. etc. and it detected a removable disk in drive (G:). When i try to drag a file to it it says please insert a disk into removable disk (G:). I bought my MPC brand new so there shouldnt be any problems.

Ok so i guess i ran into another linking problem. I followed the directions to format my CF Card and when i press f6 to "Do it" It says Pleast Insert Memory Card!!

My card is in the memory slot but i guess its not detecting it or something. What should i do??

And is the memory card supposed to "click" when you put it in the slot because i sort of have to push mine in but it slides in fine.

do you have a different compact flash card you can test this with? sounds like your flash card is no good... maybe if you try with the one that comes with the MPC (with the factory sounds) and see if that works... if not, it may actually be your flashcard drive that has a broken pin or something.

and it should NOT CLICK when you put a card in.

well i bought my mpc new so i dont kno how it would already be broken inside but i was using the flashcard that came with it also.

hey also how can i tell a pin is broken inside and how can ifix it if it is broken?

check this out MY BRAND NEW MPC 10000 had 1 pin that was bent! What a cheap system. ahaha

right on... mighta been from a cartridge shoved in there the wrong way or something... at least its working now.

hey yea at least its working but now i gotta figure out how to work it you think i should get teh DVD tutorial to show me how?
