Samling

This is a newbie question and I've had no luck with the search option.
Basically I need to know how I can get a mono sample(including boh channels into one) from my regular dj vestax mixer.
Any help would truelly be appreciated.

what are you trying to get your sample to?

a computer?

your mpc?

if your recording into a daw, just record strait mono, from one channel then adjust the panning until it is centered.

or record one on the right side, duplicate it and pan hard right and left respectively.

That's actually what he's asking. There is no such thing as "straight mono" from a mixers stereo out. And you usually loose part of the signal when taking only one channel.

You could mix left and right channel together on a small passive mixer, that's what I usually do. I do not recommend simply combining both cables with a Y-adapter, you could get clipping/distortion too easily.

On a PC, you can use Audacity to sample in Stereo, split the channels, convert them into mono, then export the whole thing into one mono wave file.

actually I'm sampling from my vestax mixer to my MPC ....
for a couple of months now I was actuallly twisting the knob on the pan of my mixer thinking that all the audio signal was being sent to one of the 2 outs and thus giving me a combined mono signal...Unfortunately it seems this doesn"t work.
I'm just really curious to know how everbody else does this cuz this IS an Mpc forum so everybody else is probably doing shit like this if they have a 2000/2000xl or 3000(which is my case).

Plug one channel into input 1, the other into input 2, and the combined signal comes out of one channel of the Out - usually the left. It will attenuate the signal a little, but it doesn't need any power. Of course you can do that with powered mixers as well.
