anyone know how to import (external) softsynths into logic 8

i know this is a stupid question but i need help!

i was wondering how the FOOK you import external sofsynths into logic (8)

im trying to use it with battery 3.

but i look in the manual, and theres nothing about how to use logic with external softsynths, just the ones that came with it! i know how to use the bundled softsynths, the drums, synths, pianos, organs ect. but theres nothing that says "use this shit with battery 3" or anything like that, its frustrating, casue i just made the dope kit in battery and i cant use it in logic so ive just been live drumming it for the last little bit lol.

i looked in the browser in logic to see if battery showed up next to all the logic instruments but i didnt.

i also looked up importing softsynths in the help menu to no avail. i hate it how some companies call things different things, you know! it makes it a mess to find what you are looking for.

if anyone can help me out i would really appreciate it becuase this just isnt happening rite now and i really would like it to!

I dont got logic, but you gotta rewire battery as VST to logic for it to work together.

thanks alot konc3pt! i finally got the index to recognize what i was looking for, just typed in "rewire"

but now i ran into another problem, i dont know if youll be able to help me being that you dont have logic,

but i set up the rewire,

the manual just said open logic, then open your rewire program and it should recognize it in the library, but it doesnt!

and then i went and looked at the specs in battery and it says it supported interfaces stand-alone vst, audio units, rtas, dxi, asio, core audio, an direct sound

but no rewire support!

will this even work at all?

I'm sure Logic is capable of hosting VST plugins. So all you gotta do is tell logic where to look for your VST's. If you pay attention during battery installation, it asks you where to install battery vst file. By default it install's itself in battery root folder, called VSTplugins or something similar. In that folder you got a file called battery.dll I think. Just point logic to that file and it should work.

the manual says logic can not act as ahost for vst or rtas plug ins and to download a audio unit adapter that wraps mac osx versions of vst plug ins to create virtual audio units.

so im gona go check that out, have you ever used one of these adaptors?

na man, I'm on PC, used mac handful of times. And when I actually tried setting one up as my DAW I felt lost and confused. so I sold it not too long ago on ebay. I'm really surprised that logic cannot host VST or any other plugins for that matter.

I installed Battery 2 on an Apple Mac G4/1.67GHz PowerBook with 2 GB of system RAM and Mac OS X (version 10.3.9). For a host sequencer, I used Apple Logic Pro 7.

I just did a quick search in google for logic and battery, but since I gotta run in a few I grab first few references. Seems like logic and battery should work together no problem. You just gotta figure out what you doing wrong.

Logic utilizes AU instead of VST. But they're all the same essentially, just on different platform.

You'd need a VST to AU adapter.

i checked out au adaptors at fxexpansion.com and they cost like 50 bucks!

do you know if theres any free ware ones out there?

it seems like fxexpansion is the only ones that make au adapters, im gona keep trying to run this without an adapter but i dont think its gona work!
