sample drowns out the drums

after i record the sample my mpc wnt let me play anything over it. i thought it was because of the parameters and the sample being on poly. so i changed it to mono. and it still didn't work. and i tried laying the drums down first and then playing the sample on top of it. and it drowns the drums out. i even tried turning the sample down. my freind was over and he thought it was kind of weird too.

are you trying to put it all on one track?

try putting on seperate tracks if your not already

i'm pretty sure i did try to put the sample on one track and the drums on another but i will try that again and tell u how it comes out

its not necessary but good practice. try to normalize your drums they could be to low also turn down the sample or resample at a lower volume. let us know what you find out!

What exactly are your drums? If you've just chooped a break they may be quite weak sounding so the best way to go imo is layering. Layer em up with some drum machine sounds. If the sample your using is esecially 'thick' you may have to carve out come space for the drums with EQ.

I would try normalization to the drum sounds. or resample them louder or respample them through a bit grunger. Or just turn your sample down.
