the 1k maxes out at 128MB in MEMORY..sound storage, cf cards, hard drives etc. are a totally different story..whoever told you it's "pointless" to upgrade your hd obviously doesn't know shyt  ..i personally don't have the need for it, with my numerous flash cards loading up my sounds into the mp is a synch..internal hard drives are meant more for people who want to carry around all their sample libraries w/them, without the need for constantly transferring files..pretty damn useful if your on the go..

just read the RAM sticky thread at the top of this section... read the exact specifications of the RAM chip you need, keep in mind it has to be a 256mb ram chip (of which the mpc will only read 128mb of... it's all there in that thread)... and then just buy some laptop ram with those exact specs at a CompUSA or whatever computer stores in your area... walmart may even have the ram for laptops... just read up and make sure you're getting the right stuff. i got mine on ebay for $40... i coulda got it even cheaper if i'd done a lil more research, but i got lazy... so there's always ebay as well.
