Just picked up an MPC 1000

Well I picked up my first piece of equipment Sunday an MPC 1000 with 100gb Hard Drive, Memory Upgrade and JJ OS on it. The guy also left several James Brown samples on it along with 1gb CF Card. He also threw in some Midi Cables and RCA cables. The MPC is in great shape, no scratches, missing buttons or anyhting; all pads are nice and precise also. Besides that i only have a Laptop at the moment but i bought some head phones to use for now as i learn it.
I have the original box and manual for the MPC which i have started to read while i look for some tutorials. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. I've been reading through this forum and trying to get an understanding of what all i can do with it.

I'm having a couple of problems if anyone can assist me. I cant get the autoload feature to load my samples to the pads when i turn it on. I set it to the CF CARD(1gig) and when I turn it on you see it loading the files but they are not assigned to the pads as i had it set when i turned it off.

My other problem is saving or resampling a beat to a wave format so i can transfer it to my PC. I followed instructions that were given to me but when i try to save it to memory card it shows up on my PC as a .SEQ versus a wave. The Folder shows and the sequences have the correct name but its not in the wave format. I watched the tutorial on Future Producers but one part keeps acting funny for me; once i select to save the song(mixdown) it doesnt give me a location. I know this is simple to all the veterans on here but can anyone think of something i may be doing wrong?

Not sure if this is the reason but I'm running JJ OS1 Ver 4.93--at least thats what shows when it loads up.

after you assign your sounds to the different pads in a program, go to mode+load then press save--> "all programs, sounds, sequences.." with auto load on it'll load up the program you choose with all it's sounds, settings etc ready to rumble..

I've tried that several times but I cant figure out whats messing it up. Now my card doesnt have the Autoload folder if that makes a difference. I juse select Autoload>MemoryCard>*MyFolder* When i reboot it shows them loading but they dont go to the pads. Do i need to download the Autoload Folder? I have seen older links on here for it but they all have expired.

I wouldn't try to cram ALL of what the machine is capable of doing in your head all at once...just sit down, find a sample (doesn't even have to be all that great) and just make a beat. I'm talking a very simple, repetitive beat so you can get comfortable with your mpc.
Like I said, no one will hear it if you don't want them to, you're at this point you're just wanting to familiarize yourself with your equipment.
Once you get the basics, other ideas will come to you and you'll learn how to do those as well....but be sure to read the manual before posting on here...

People here are more likely to help those who help themselves and plus, you won't get a gang of smart ass posts telling you to "RTFM"....

Thanks--I was able to get the create a simple beat and save it to my PC as a wave which was also a problem a coupel of nights ago. I can get the Sequence i save to load when i turn the machine on but i have to browse to the actual sequence versus them already being in the pads. I downloade dthe PDF to the manual and was able to get a few steps.

Future Producers is good too, but if you're mainly working with an MPC, this is the place to get info and post...

There is info on them there, but not nearly as much...I like gearslutz.com too
