bringing MPC beat into your COMPUTER AND PLAYING IT

i wanna be able to bring my beats into this program GARAGE BAND so i can lay vocals down. but the problem is that i cant even listen to them because their a .Seq file. not sure what that is. but anyways how can i convert it so i can bring them into garagband???

the way you're imagining this right now can't really be done. the SEQ file is for use within the MPC only.

what you'll probably have to do is record your beat as audio [mainly just running your mpc's outs into your computer's ins & recording] and import that as an audio track into garageband.

Or, you could resample the entire beat and turn it into a .wav file.

go MODE + RECORD. change the input to MAIN OUT. sample the entire song. save it as a sample, then transfer the new sample to your computer. Then just load it up in garage band

i think the long term solution what you looking for here is getting an sound interface with multiple inputs and just record the beat on seperated tracks in garage band

i dont think that sampling it will work because anytime i deal with a file thats longer than 12secs it stops me in my tracks with the dreded "insufficient space" warning.
i am using a G5 iMac, so my next question is, with that info given, what direction should i head in terms of audio interfaces

if you want a quick fix you can just pick up a simple Y connecter. two 1/4" connections to a stereo 1/8". Use the MPC L/R out to the line in on your comp. Now this is not going to give you good quality at all but its a quick fix for now. Like Bees80 said longterm, you need to get yourself an interface. Peace.

since you can't resample it internally, just try recording it into your mac's mic input for now.

would this be what blue box is for? i don't use it so i'm not really sure.

I was having the same problem but it worked for me. I think you are receiving the insufficient memory message because you haven't upgraded the RAM on the MPC. Also try saving it to eht Compact Flash card and then transferring it over. My MPC1K is using the 128MB RAM allowing more space.

HEARD THAT..... BUT WHICH INTERFACE SHOULD I LOOK TOWARDS BUYING FOR A MAC????

check out the sweetwater.com. they have a good selection of interfaces. Me personally, I'm a Pro Tools user but there are other options to suit your budget or recording needs. Check out the site if you got any ?'s hit me up.

would that save it on the memory card?

that will work if you want to just dump 2 tracks into the comp but if you intend on actually mixing your beat this wont do you any good as they will need to be tracked out for thatl.

just get a sound interface or if there is a line input, just record it from there. But from personal experience, I would try a different DAW instead of garage band, there is going to be a point where you will hit a wall since the functions of garage band are limited. I'm not even sure you can midi sync in garage band...
