Smoothing Out Samples

I've been doing a lot of Soul sampling lately, mostly for Hip Hop beats. And I'm wondering how do I smooth out the ends of samples. For instance, if i just want to repeat the same sample.. it sounds choppy because the sound isn't flowing to the next sound....and if I have a lot of samples it is hard to get a clean melody without some choppy sounds. Does it boil down to the chopping or is there anything else I can do?

For the most part, it does depend on how you chop your samples. Often times, you can get a sample to loop by just adjusting your tempo to fit your sample, but your drums may play ahead of the tempo of your sample. Other times, you'll have to really chop your sample into multiple pieces to get it to fit your drums. It takes practice... also, do a search. There are some good chopping tips on this forum.

Playing around with Decay might help as well.
