I loked through to see if anyone else has had this problem but cudnt find one. Basicly when i open the edit screen to chop samples, when i use the wheel to go back and forth it keeps playing the sample and then usually when ive nearly finished choppin all samples it freezes! It also freezes when im on the main screen sometimes.. somedays it does it all day other days nothing at all. Any advice would be great thanks.

it also changes pad when im editing a programme. For example; Im putting the resonance to 6 and the frequency to 75 on a sample and as i turn the wheel it changes pad!!

Could it be because i changed the floppy drive a while a go with one from a pc? It was a really old one and worked fine but its getting worse and worse..i took the day off to make beats as well!!

i dont see how a disk drive would affect the machine like that...here are a few things i suggest doing. first try making a new os disk from a brand new floppy . if that doesnt work check the RAM inside the machine it may either be bad or not seated properly in the slot. it sounds more likely to me an issue with the RAM from they strange behavior you machine is putting out. also try running the machine with the ram out and only the standard 2mb.

There are a few bugs in the classic, esp if you play a busy sequence while changing parameters, but my mpc hasn't frozen up for years! And I do push it hard some times.

i dont know for sure but it sounds like a ram issue...try throwin some new ram in there
