Help with Internal Zip drive 2000XL

Having some problems thats making me pull my hair out.

Waited all xmas for some cables to arrive so I could install an internal zip in my newly found 2000XL.

So basically, installed drive, got the cables all in etc, but for some reason it won't let me find the Atapi option.

When trying to look for Atapi or even Zip in the options, it can't be found.

Zip powers up etc.

Please please help

When you got to Load Screen do you put the cursor on the Device name and change it to ATAPI device?

Hi thanks for your help.

When I press Shift + Load first message is "No Floppy Device"
So I then use the cursor and go to Device...
Using the Data wheel I only get the following to select...
Floppy, SCSI-0, SCSI-1, SCSI-2, SCSI-3, SCSI-4, SCSI-5, SCSI-7 then F-ROM.

As you can see it doesn't even show ATAPI and misses SCSI-6 (unless thats supposed to be like that).

Drive seems fine, sits making a spinning noise.

One thing I haven't been able to do is set the Zip drive to master, would that make a difference? I don't think I have any spare jumpers around unless I can use one of the 2 onboard.

Only been waiting 2 months to get this up and running.

SCSI ID 6 is the MPC itself I think. Is the data cable connected in the right direction? That's the most common error if you have a cable that doesn't have a notch on the connector.

Yeah, definitely have the cable the right way, but thanks for your time.

SOunds like you got one of those bunk drives that don't work or is not hot swappable possibly.

Just sorted it, found out it was the jumper. The drive needed to be on the Master setting, then it showed up.

Just purchased some jumpers from ebay and a spare zip drive, you never know when these things will die on you.

BTW, only made a temp jumper with tin foil, worked a treat haha.

Cool. I wasnt sure about the jumper...have to note it down for future reference
